Summer is over, and 'tis the season for bike movie releases! From the group Shasta Outdoor Media comes their first major production, "A Song and Dance". Filmed with local riders and a "99%"-style low budget, Shasta Outdoor Media went to great lengths to try to bring together a film that would be both unique in its portrayal of riding, and unique in the riders themselves. Shasta Outdoor Media's own synopsis:
"It's not about the rider. Filmed entirely in the town of Mt. Shasta, California, 'A Song And Dance' features 7 local riders and their perspectives on 'the ride' (and what it means to them). No pros. Real people."
Teaser:
In production for almost 2 years, the cinematographers of "A Song and Dance" constantly juggled commitments to the film, school, and reality (namely, winter) to bring the film to completion. Many times the wrap was called off in order to get one or two more shots that would contribute to the film. The idea to keep the film exclusively within the mountain discipline was scrapped as well after we saw J.C.L.'s talents at the park, along with the hope that there would be a chance to bring some new ideas to the realm of BMX cinematography with his section.
